QA Lead / Asst. Programmer

Blue Omega is a different kind of studio looking for a different kind of individual who is talented, energetic and wants to break new ground. We're actively seeking a Quality Assurance Lead who has exceptional communication skills, as well as a strong passion for shipping bug free games. We are looking for someone with great ideas, and the skills to back them up, whether new to the game industry and looking for a break, or a veteran with years in the trenches.

Focused on original IP and developing only for Next-Gen platforms, our team develops the core game concepts/prototype and then teams up with the best companies in the business to make those concepts a reality.

 Responsibilities:

As QA Lead / Programmer at Blue Omega you will take part in, and oversee the QA effort for all projects, be responsible for managing internal and external QA resources, organize playtests, drive all test plan creation, ensuring end product salability, compatibility, and reliability. You may also be asked to assist the with feature development.

Requirements:

  • Evaluate software and hardware specifications.
  • Has the ability to create detailed bug reports.
  • Must be able to work with other Technical Team members to design, write, and execute detailed test plans.
  • Run tests and record results on product releases.
  • Must be willing to organize groups for playtests, and gather results.
  • Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with both internal and external QA teams.
  • Must have the ability to script test scenarios.
  • Must demonstrate excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be willing to keep up to date with current QA methodologies.
  • Must have experience with one or more programming databases.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Has the ability to take direction, work independently, collaborate as part of a team, or provide direction to others though comprehensive critiques.
  • Passionate about film, video games, and animation.
  • Willing to relocate if currently living outside of Baltimore, MD or Washington DC area.
  • Current authorization to work in USA.

Preferred:

  • QA or Programming background
  • Experience using Bugzilla or other bug tracking software
  • Experience with Unreal Engine
  • General understanding of game editors and scripting
  • 3D Tools Programming a strong plus
